Job summary

Loft Orbital is seeking a Test Infrastructure Engineer to design, develop, and deploy test infrastructure that spans hardware and software testing across our Golden, CO; San Francisco, CA; and Toulouse sites. You will build high-fidelity HIL testbeds and EGSE interfaces, automate tests, and work closely with multiple teams to ensure bug-free satellite software and systems.

You should have a product mindset, strong embedded, networking, and Python skills, and be comfortable with Docker and CI

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 2+ years working with Linux systems, including configuration, debugging, and system-level troubleshooting.
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (OSI layers, packet analysis, TCP/IP/UDP).
• Hands-on experience with embedded systems or low-level hardware (Raspberry Pi, Arduino, microcontrollers).
• Proficiency in Python (3.9+) for test automation and orchestration tools.
• Experience containerizing applications with Docker.
• Familiarity with modern CI tools and integrating test pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, deploy, and maintain high-fidelity Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testbeds that emulate spacecraft systems, sensors, and links.
• Design, build, deploy, and maintain Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) for space vehicle validation and verification.
• Develop tools and frameworks to simulate faults, edge cases, and mission scenarios.
• Collaborate with systems, software, hardware, and operations teams to evolve test requirements.
• Maintain CI pipelines with realistic system-level tests.
• Troubleshoot complex issues spanning software, embedded hardware, networking, and system configuration.
