Job summary

Peraton seeks a Software Engineering Manager to lead the WSC Software Engineering Department near Las Cruces, NM, overseeing three groups with a staff of about 30 engineers. You will drive day-to-day operations, ensure programmatic success, and advance modernization initiatives using AI tools.

The role requires 10+ years of experience, 5 years of managing teams, strong database and CI/CD skills, and the ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
• 10+ years of demonstrated work experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
• 5 years of demonstrated experience managing medium/large sized groups (20-30 people).
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, or equivalent).
• Proficiency with version control systems (GitLab, GitHub, or equivalent).
• Experience establishing or operating within CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins, or equivalent).
• Ability to communicate effectively with subordinates, peers, and NASA customer.
• Must be able to obtain DoD Secret security clearance.
• Must be a US Citizen.

Responsibilities

• Direct day-to-day operations of the software engineering department.
• Collaborate with all WSC departments to meet technical, budgetary, and schedule requirements.
• Lead modernization and platform rehost efforts, utilizing AI tools to gain efficiency.
• Promote agile methodologies including sprint planning and Definition of Done.
• Participate in hiring recommendations and performance evaluations.
• Identify and manage risks within the department.
• Report metrics on software engineering processes and progress to Site Management and NASA customer.
