Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation in El Segundo, CA (onsite) is seeking a Graduate Intern in Risk and Reliability Engineering. You will assist with risk, reliability, and system safety analyses for national security space programs and support senior decision makers with insights.

You will collaborate with SMEs, contribute to risk-informed decisions, and gain exposure to MIL-STD-882E principles as part of a dynamic aerospace team.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled full time in a graduate degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, reliability engineering, systems engineering, or similar.
• Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, reliability systems or similar engineering major prior to start of internship.
• Availability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks and return to graduate studies after internship.
• Ability to understand statistics and apply them to evaluate failures and anomalies.
• Strong communication skills to convey insights and recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Assist DoD, IC, NASA, and other government customers with planning and executing risk/reliability activities.
• Provide risk, reliability and system safety guidance and analysis for national security space and ground systems.
• Collaborate with program offices to perform assessments that inform senior decision makers.
• Support leaders in making risk-informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Engage with SMEs to deliver critical assessments for program managers.
• Help shape risk/reliability capabilities strategy and develop innovative approaches for new space architectures.
