Job summary

AV in Albuquerque seeks a Radiation Effects Scientist to join a team working on space-qualified hardware for GEO to Cislunar missions. The role emphasizes radiation effects on electronics, test plan development, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

The candidate will evaluate components, support design decisions, and present risk analyses at program milestones. A US security clearance is required and ITAR/EAR compliance is essential.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree required or PhD with relevant field.
  • 6+ years experience with Master's degree; 4+ years with PhD.

Responsibilities

  • Support engineering decisions based on radiation effects on system performance.
  • Perform TID, SEE, DDD and related radiation analyses for electronics design.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to understand and characterize radiation effects on electronics.
  • Evaluate COTS and radiation-hardened components for mission suitability.
  • Interact with program teams to align tasks with schedules and deliveries.
  • Present radiation design risks and performance at milestone reviews.
  • Develop radiation test plans and review data analyses.
  • Assist in testing, test station setup, and verification efforts.
  • Develop standard practices for radiation hardness and mission assurance programs.
  • Collaborate on program requirements development and training materials.
