Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking an Space Systems and Orbit Determination Operations Engineer (MTS/SMTS) to join the Enterprise Effects Division. You will provide astrodynamic analysis, develop algorithms, and support mission studies for national security space programs using EO/IR sensors, OD, PNT, and space domain awareness.

This on-site role requires a Master’s degree in a related field, up to one year of experience, and the ability to obtain a US government security clearance.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an accredited college/university in Aerospace and Astronautics Engineering, physics, math or related discipline (pursuing or conferred within last 12 months)
• 0-1 year of industry work experience
• Minimum GPA of 3.0
• Experience in Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis and/or algorithm development
• Software development experience in Java, C++, Python, MATLAB, C, or FORTRAN
• Designing and building filtering algorithms for Orbit Determination and PNT operations
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance; U.S. citizenship required
• Transcripts required

Responsibilities

• Provide astrodynamic analytical support, algorithm development, systems engineering and architecting, and modeling and simulation analysis for space surveillance systems and missions
• Conduct a range of analysis using modeling, simulation and analysis capabilities
• Advise stakeholders and government customers on orbit determination, target tracking, GNSS analysis, and signal integrity
• Perform analytical studies, conduct tests, develop specifications, prepare analytical reports
• Analyze EO, IR, radar and passive RF sensor concepts, architectures, and algorithms
• Perform space protection and threat susceptibility, vulnerability analysis and resiliency assessment
• Support exercises of space systems and evaluate exercise requirements
• Apply modeling and simulation for mission operations
• Become proficient in SDA, BMC2, space control, and orbit determination
• Devise new approaches; frequent inter-organizational contacts
