Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation invites applications for a Space Systems and Orbit Determination Operations Engineer (MTS/SMTS) to support space surveillance, OD, PNT analyses, and sensor concepts. This on-site role engages in modeling, simulation, and mission operations across multiple programs in Colorado Springs, CO; El Segundo, CA; or Chantilly, VA.

The ideal candidate has a Master’s degree in a related field, 0–1 year of experience, and the ability to obtain a security clearance.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Aerospace and Astronautics Engineering, physics, math or related discipline (pursuing or conferred within last 12 months).
• 0-1 year of industry work experience.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Experience in modeling, simulation, and analysis and/or algorithm development.
• Software development experience in at least one of the following programming languages: Java, C++, Python, MATLAB, C, or FORTRAN.
• Applicable skills in designing and building filtering algorithms for Orbit Determination and PNT operations.
• This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government.

Responsibilities

• Provide astrodynamic analytical support, algorithm development, systems engineering and architecting, and modeling and simulation analysis for space surveillance systems and missions.
• Conduct a range of analysis using modeling, simulation and analysis capabilities (in-house, custom, and gov't tools).
• Advise stakeholders by performing analyses related to orbit determination, target tracking, GNSS analysis, and signal integrity.
• Perform analytical studies, tests, develop details of specifications, and report findings; assist in planning studies and design projects.
• Analyze EO, IR, radar and passive RF sensor concepts, architectures, and algorithms.
• Perform space protection and threat susceptibility, vulnerability analysis and resiliency assessment.
• Support exercises of space systems and evaluate exercise and training requirements.
• Apply modeling and simulation for mission operations.
• Become proficient in SDA, BMC2, space control, and orbit determination.
• Devise new approaches; frequent inter-organizational and external contacts.
