Job summary

CesiumAstro in Austin, TX is seeking Summer 2027 interns to design and build space structures and thermal systems for satellite communications. You will collaborate with our mechanical engineers on product development, design, testing, and manufacturing of structures and thermal packaging.

Interns will work on conduction-cooled packaging, deployable structures, and lightweight composite space structures, with assignments determined by project availability and your interests.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical or Aerospace Eng.
• GPA 3.5 or higher.
• Upper-level coursework in structures and heat transfer.
• Experience with mechanical FEA tools such as SolidWorks Simulation or ANSYS.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and build space structures and thermal systems for satellite communications.
• Collaborate with engineers on product development, design, test, and manufacturing of structures and thermal systems.
• Focus areas include conduction-cooled packaging, deployable structures and mechanisms, and lightweight composite space structures.
• Assignments determined by project availability and candidate interests.
• Present work to peers, mentors, and CesiumAstro leadership throughout the internship.
