Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Mechanical Analysis Intern to join the Space Systems Sector in Dulles, VA. This internship offers hands-on work on static and dynamic structure analysis, with mentorship from senior engineers and exposure to space applications.

The role requires full-time availability for at least 10 weeks in Summer 2027, enrollment in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, and eligibility to obtain a U.S. government security clearance.

Qualifications

• Be enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree and will be enrolled full time in Fall 2027.
• Majoring in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related.
• Available to work full-time (40 hours/week) for at least 10 weeks during Summer 2027.
• Be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite).

Responsibilities

• Performing static and dynamic structure analysis.
• Reviewing requirements for materials, structure systems & subsystems.
• Selecting appropriate technical information and data from applicable products.
• Determining the technical principles involved and computing engineering characteristics to meet space requirements.
• Releasing results as technical documents after senior review.
• Developing innovative solutions and elaborating design concepts.
• Developing, coordinating, and conducting test programs required to evaluate design work.
