Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking Structural / Electromechanical Engineers for an internship in the Space sector, located in Redondo Beach, CA. The selected candidate will join Northrop Grumman's Western Region Vehicle and Mechanical Engineering team, contributing to mechanical, electronic and electrotechnical work for space applications. The internship runs full-time for at least 10 weeks in Summer 2027.

Compensation follows tiered rates: Bachelor's $21.50–$39.00/hr; Master's $30.50–$48.00/hr. U.S.

Qualifications

Full-time student enrolled in Fall 2027 at an accredited college/university.
Majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or STEM field.
Available to work full-time (40 hours/week) for at least 10 weeks during Summer 2027.
U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance.
Preferred GPA 3.00/4.0 or higher.
Previous internship/co-op experience preferred.
Participation in professional/community activities; interest in teamwork.

Responsibilities

Conduct preliminary requirements definition, conceptual and layout designs, detailed designs, analysis, drawing release, reviews, and support fabrication, integration and testing of mechanisms and deployable, opto-mechanical systems for space applications.
Apply research to planning, design, development and testing of mechanical/electromechanical systems, instruments, controls and machines.
