Job summary

Vast is seeking a Mechanical Engineer, Structures (New Grad) in Long Beach, CA to design, analyze, and test systems behind space stations. You'll create CAD models, perform static/dynamic analyses, and collaborate with technicians to bring hardware from concept to build.

The role requires a B.S. in a relevant field and hands-on experience with CAD/FEA, GD&T, and materials testing. The position is full-time and based in Long Beach, CA, with potential for growth in a space-focused team.

Qualifications

• B.S. in mechanical, aerospace, civil engineering, physics, mathematics, or related technical field.
• Coursework/internship experience designing and developing mechanical components or systems.
• Familiarity with 3D CAD and FEA software through coursework or internships.
• Understanding of GD&T fundamentals (ASME Y14.5).

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze primary and secondary structures and components for a large-scale space station with guidance from senior engineers.
• Apply understanding of static/dynamic loads, vibration, thermal environments to evaluate and improve designs.
• Create CAD models and manufacturing drawings; help develop test plans and concepts of operations.
• Contribute to trade studies and define interfaces with subsystems.
• Work hands-on with fabricators and technicians to build, assemble, and test hardware.
