Job summary

Vast is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design primary and secondary structures for a large-scale space station. You will report to the Manager, Structures Design and support development of systems for artificial-gravity, human-rated habitats.

The role requires a Bachelor's in engineering, 2+ years CAD/FEA and mechanical design experience. NX, Teamcenter, Ansys or similar tools are preferred, in a fast-paced, on-site Long Beach environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, civil, physics or math.
• 2+ years experience with CAD and FEA software packages.
• 2+ years designing and developing mechanical components or systems.

Responsibilities

• Own design of primary and secondary structures on a large scale space station.
• Develop understanding of static and dynamic loads, vibrations, thermal and other environmental considerations to drive design decisions.
• Perform mechanical design and analysis, develop manufacturing drawings, test plans, concept of operations, and follow hardware through the entire process.
• Lead trades and own interfaces with sub systems.
• Work with fabricators and technicians to improve designs, develop processes, and resolve issues
