Job summary

Sierra Space is hiring an entry-level Manufacturing Engineer I to support the development and improvement of solar array and photovoltaic assembly processes for satellite platforms. As an entry-level engineer, you will assist with line setup, process troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives while growing within a mission-driven aerospace environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 0–2 years of entry-level experience.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering principles.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks/AutoCAD).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to document and standardize processes.
  • Ability to support production line setup and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with equipment troubleshooting and repair.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize solar array manufacturing processes to ensure operational excellence.
  • Support panel production line setup and troubleshooting to maintain smooth operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve manufacturing issues affecting yield and reliability.
  • Contribute to process documentation and standardization (work instructions, travelers, inspection criteria).
  • Use CAD to design/modify tooling, fixtures, and equipment for solar panel assembly.
  • Troubleshoot and repair solar manufacturing equipment to reduce downtime.
  • Analyze production and yield data to identify trends and root causes for improvements.
  • Participate in Lean/Six Sigma initiatives to boost efficiency and quality.
  • Handle sensitive solar cell materials following ESD and safety protocols.
