Job summary

Leidos Space is seeking a Space Payload Program Manager in San Diego, CA to lead end-to-end management of OPIR payload programs, driving schedule, cost, and technical performance with DoD interfaces.

The role requires active DoD clearance, 17+ years of relevant experience or 15+ with a Master, and strong leadership to mentor teams while delivering on aggressive schedules and compliant with DoD standards.

Qualifications

• Active DoD Secret clearance or higher required.
• Bachelor's degree with 17+ years or Master with 15+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience managing firm fixed price development programs $100M+ in size.
• Experience in aerospace or defense, including electro/optical product design, development, and test.
• Strong PM capabilities: cost (EVM), schedule, and customer engagement.
• Leadership and ability to interface with senior management and technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end management of space payload programs from concept to delivery.
• Oversee development, testing, and integration of space payloads with cross-functional teams.
• Establish PM processes: WBS, IMS, risk management, and EVM cost management.
• Capture new business by developing RFIs and BOEs; approve proposals.
• Negotiate SOW, T&Cs, and pricing with subcontractors and customers.
• Serve as primary client liaison and report program status and risks.
• Ensure compliance with DoD and space payload standards.
• Mentor junior program managers and guide the team.
