Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a Software Engineer for Network Architecture and SDN to design and implement the network for a multi-orbit satellite constellation. You will work on routing, traffic management, and resilience, collaborating with senior engineers to deliver high-speed, reliable space-based communications.

The role emphasises cross-functional teamwork, mentorship of junior engineers, and solving complex network challenges in orbit and on-ground ground stations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Five+ years of software development experience in networks, distributed systems, or telecommunications.
• Experience implementing SDN controllers and programmable data planes (P4, OpenFlow, or similar).
• Experience building software for production, mission-critical systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop routing solutions for time-varying LEO satellite constellations.
• Implement SDN frameworks with centralized and distributed control planes.
• Develop self-healing network logic using real-time telemetry for congestion and fault isolation.
• Build observability components with in-band and out-of-band telemetry for packet and flow visibility.
• Create high-performance packet forwarding suitable for space environments and power constraints.
• Collaborate with RF and silicon teams to support mobility across beams and satellites.
