Job summary

Blue Origin in Los Angeles is seeking a Mechanisms Engineer II for Opto-Mechanical Systems to design and qualify precision mechanical systems for the TeraWave constellation. You will work under senior engineers on gimbal assemblies, pointing mechanisms, and related hardware, building expertise in space mechanism design within a collaborative team.

Responsibilities include performance requirements, analyses, testing, and documentation; mentorship will drive growth as you contribute to integration

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• Experience with gimbal assemblies and multi-axis pointing mechanisms.
• Proficiency in CAD software and exposure to FEA tools.
• Knowledge of mechanism kinematics, dynamics and structural analysis.
• Familiarity with space qualification testing concepts and GD&T.
• Awareness of DFM/DFA and space-grade bearing systems.
• Strong collaboration and communication under mentorship.

Responsibilities

• Support design and development of precision gimbal assemblies and pointing mechanisms for space-based terminals.
• Develop mechanism performance requirements, error budgets, and design margins.
• Perform design trade studies and analyses for gimbal configurations with engineering review.
• Support qualification activities including shock, vibration, and thermal-vacuum testing.
• Prepare design documentation, analyses, and test procedures for senior review.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on integration and interface definitions.
• Assist in production transition, tolerance analysis, and DFM/DFA reviews.
