Job summary

Astrion is seeking a Systems Safety Engineer for its El Segundo, CA location to support cradle-to-grave safety analyses for Space Force National Security Space Launch programs. This mid-level role focuses on safety requirements, hazard mitigation, and risk assessment across launch vehicles, ground support equipment, and facilities.

Qualifications

• 7 years’ experience in relevant fields with at least 3 years of NSSL, Launch/Range, DoD, NASA or industry equivalent systems safety experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in STEM field.
• Active DoD Secret clearance.
• Understand launch vehicle processes and day-of-launch procedures.
• Familiarity with Space Force programs and Launch Vehicle System Safety design and safety reviews.

Responsibilities

• Conduct launch systems safety engineering for activities and report recommendations to the Space Force.
• Evaluate LSP documentation for technical compliance with system safety requirements and provide documentation of discrepancies.
• Analyze design and testing of launch vehicle safe-ty systems to provide risk mitigation recommendations.
• Assess hazard analyses to verify hazards are identified and mitigated; report findings to the USG.
• Develop, track, maintain, and communicate technical progress and schedule of missions.
• Provide and present weekly technical status reports.
