Job summary

Muon Space in San Jose is seeking a Technician to join the Testbeds & EGSE team. You will build and maintain HITL testbeds and EGSE to interface with satellites during assembly and test, fabricating harnesses and wiring as directed.

The role requires hands-on hardware building, troubleshooting, and documentation from drawings. Expect an onsite, fast-paced environment with collaboration across engineering teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience assembling and maintaining electrical or electromechanical hardware.
• Skilled in harness fabrication: connectorization, pinning, crimping, and continuity testing.
• Experience with PCBA assembly and rework (surface mount and through-hole).
• Competence with basic electrical test tools (multimeter at minimum) for troubleshooting.
• Comfort in a Linux heavy development environment.
• Ability to work from drawings, schematics, and block diagrams with minimal supervision.
• Self-sufficient when documentation is thin and able to seek engineers directly.
• Careful documentation habits and organized lab/inventory management.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.

Responsibilities

• Assemble HITL testbed hardware: racks, avionics modules, wiring, and interconnects using drawings and diagrams.
• Assemble and maintain spacecraft test equipment (EGSE) for satellite integration and test.
• Fabricate, modify, and repair cable harnesses including connectorization and continuity checks.
• Perform PCBA assembly and rework (SMT and TH).
• Maintain testbed infrastructure and lab resources and respond quickly when systems fail.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues with standard test tools alongside engineers.
• Perform light mechanical fabrication like drilling and rack fit-up.
• Track inventory and document builds and changes with logs and procedures.
