Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Summer 2027 Manufacturing Intern to gain hands-on experience supporting daily operations and driving process improvements in a fast-paced hardware environment.

As an intern you will collaborate with the manufacturing engineering team, create and maintain SOPs, collect data, analyze trends, assist with quality control, and apply lean principles to reduce waste, all while working onsite at our facilities.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an associate, bachelor’s, or master’s program in manufacturing or mechanical engineering.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess and improve manufacturing processes.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, CAD software, and engineering principles.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present findings.
• High level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy in process documentation and quality control activities.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to changing priorities and project requirements.
• Proactive and self-motivated with a desire to take on new challenges and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the manufacturing engineering team to identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency enhancements.
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving production issues by applying engineering principles and problem-solving skills.
• Create and maintain detailed manufacturing process documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, and process flowcharts.
• Collect and analyze data from manufacturing processes to identify trends and areas for improvement.
• Assist in quality control activities, including inspections, testing, and root cause analysis for non-conforming products.
• Learn and apply lean manufacturing principles to streamline production processes and reduce waste.
• Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to bring innovative ideas to the team.
