Job summary

Axiom Space seeks a seasoned Software Systems Engineer to own the definition, integration, and verification of software systems for the Commercial Space Station program in Houston, TX. You will operate in a MBSE-driven environment with cross-disciplinary teams across the full software lifecycle.

Ideal candidates have extensive experience authoring requirements, managing traceability, defining interfaces, and planning verification activities, with MBSE tools and familiarity with JIRA/Confluence.

Qualifications

• Author and manage software/system requirements (functional, performance, safety, interface).
• Maintain bidirectional traceability across lifecycle stages (ConOps → system → software → design → test).
• Define interfaces (ICDs) and support integration activities.
• Plan/execute verification (test, analysis, inspection, demonstration).
• Proficiency with Jama, DOORS, or Innoslate.
• MBSE experience using SysML in tools like Cameo, Rhapsody or Innoslate.
• G Jira/Confluence knowledge and project/risk management practices.
• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Systems, CS or related field; 10+ years experience.
• Track record of delivering in fast-moving environments.

Responsibilities

• Author software and system requirements (functional, performance, safety, cybersecurity, interface) using MBSE.
• Maintain bidirectional requirements traceability across lifecycle stages.
• Lead requirements reviews, change control boards, and impact assessments.
• Define interfaces and message schemas; plan verification activities.
• Collaborate with avionics, network, FPGA, and hardware teams for end-to-end integration.
• Plan and document verification methods and acceptance criteria.
• Support SIL/HIL environments and flight/field test readiness.
• Contribute to safety analyses and derived requirements.
