Job summary

KGS LLC is seeking a PCB Design Engineer for Amazon Leo Government projects in California. You will lead PCB layout, component selection, and bring-up for space hardware, collaborating across engineering teams.

Role requires experience with 16+ layer boards, high-speed signaling, IPC standards, and producing fabrication documentation. TS/SCI clearance is required; US citizenship necessary.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience with prototyping and implementation.

Responsibilities

• Interact directly with customers to understand technical requirements and translate them into robust solutions.
• Proficiency in industry-standard EDA tools (Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, Mentor PADS/Xpedition, KiCad, or OrCAD).
• Strong understanding of PCB manufacturing processes, materials, and stack-up design.
• Experience with multi-layer board design (16+ layers).
• Knowledge of high-speed digital design principles (DDR, PCIe, USB, Ethernet).
• Familiarity with IPC standards (IPC-2221, IPC-2222, IPC-7351).
• Designs collaborating with electrical/mechanical/firmware teams to optimize layouts.
• DFM/DFT principles for producibility and testability.
• Die layout constraints including impedance, SI, EMI/EMC, power integrity.
• Generate fabrication/assembly docs (Gerber, BOM).
• Design rule checks (DRC/ERC) for design integrity.
