Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 2+ years developing and testing complex hardware.
  • Experience designing mechanisms with bearings, gears, motors, and sliding interfaces.
  • Proficient in CAD and analysis tools.
  • Hands-on problem solving and hardware integration.
  • Ability to work independently on rapid development programs.
  • Experience designing latches, actuators, linkages, hinges, or similar kinematic assemblies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the entire design cycle of spaceflight mechanisms, including conceptual and detailed design, trade studies, structural analysis, development testing and qualification.
  • Design and analyze mechanisms for first-of-their-kind exploration missions to extreme environments.
  • Generate technical documentation and vendor specs for fabrication of custom parts.
  • Hands-on assembly and testing including environmental testing, shock and vibration.
  • Plan and execute subsystem development testing, data reduction and analysis.
  • Identify roadblocks to progress and mitigate them across the project lifecycle.
