Job summary

Impulse Space is seeking an FPGA Engineer in Redondo Beach to design, implement, verify, and integrate high-performance digital logic for space vehicles. You will work with HDL, AXI interfaces, and clocking architectures, collaborating with DSP, systems, and software teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Optical/related technical discipline.
• 5+ years in optical communications field.
• HDL development with VHDL/Verilog.
• Experience with high-speed digital design and timing closure.
• Familiarity with AXI4/AXI-Stream interfaces.
• Proficiency with Xilinx Vivado and Intel/Altera toolchains.
• Experience with FPGA clocking resources (PLL, MMCM).
• Hands-on lab debugging and hardware bring-up.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and optimize FPGA designs using VHDL or Verilog.
• Perform high-speed digital integration with multi-clock domain interfaces and timing closure.
• Architect FPGA data paths for throughput, parallelism, and efficiency.
• Implement AXI4/AXI-Stream interfaces and related on-chip bus architectures.
• Design and manage FPGA clocking using PLL/MMCM primitives.
• Use Xilinx and Intel/Altera toolchains for synthesis, PnR, timing analysis.
• Build self-checking testbenches for verification and regression coverage.
• Debug FPGA designs in lab using logic analyzers and oscilloscope.
