Impulse Space is seeking an FPGA engineer in Redondo Beach to accelerate complex protocols into high-throughput FPGA blocks and bridge FPGA acceleration with high-level applications. You will collaborate with RF software engineers to build libraries that power ground systems processing millions of mission packets per second.
The role requires designing satellite modem layers, analyzing timing/resources, and delivering end-to-end test harnesses with CI/CD integration.
Compensation: $125,000 - $170,000 / year

As an FPGA engineer at Impulse Space, you will be responsible for taking complex protocols and algorithms and accelerating them into high throughput FPGA blocks. Working closely with RF software engineers you will write libraries to help bridge the gap between fabric acceleration and high-level applications. Your code will not only fly in space but become the backbone for ground systems that will push millions of mission packets per second.
Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case‑by‑case basis and may vary based on job‑related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long‑term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
Impulse Space’s spacecraft manufacturing business is subject to U.S. export regulations including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
