Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Facility Maintenance Engineer to join the NASA/JSC-focused team in Houston, TX. You will apply mechanical engineering principles to maintain critical facility systems, lead reliability efforts, and develop SOWs for upgrades and space simulations chambers.

The role requires hands-on maintenance of cooling towers, LN2 storage, pumps, and related infrastructure, with proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office. Collaboration across multidisciplinary teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering; 2–5 years of experience in the field.
• Hands-on experience maintaining facility machinery, including pumps, motors, blowers, and valves.
• Experience in machine shop, tooling and tool specification.
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to diagnose technical failures and implement corrective actions.
• Proven record of independently identifying and resolving complex technical issues.
• Familiar with safety relief valves and how to specify them.
• Experience in Thermal Vacuum Testing environments.
• Maintain configuration control for critical infrastructure (compressed air, chilled water, cooling towers, vacuum, Liquid Nitrogen, and Nitrogen systems).

Responsibilities

• Establish and execute reliability strategies for critical NASA/JSC systems.
• Apply mechanical engineering principles to design, test, and implement solutions using AutoCAD.
• Coordinate with JSC Pressure Systems for cooling towers, LN2 storage, and related systems.
• Lead maintenance plans for cooling tower, LN2 storage, oil/chemical storage, and vacuum pumps.
• Track system health and schedule maintenance and functional checks.
• Develop SOWs and cost estimates for procurement, fabrication, and installation.
• Collaborate with team and provide progress reports to leadership.
• Maintain safe, compliant operations.
