Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking a Drone Specialist to lead New Glenn drone operations at LC-36, Cape Canaveral, FL. You will supervise drone activities, train pilots, and manage coverage schedules to ensure safe, compliant missions while coordinating with operations and media teams.

The role requires Part 107 certification, strong drone operations experience in complex environments, and the ability to adapt hours for mission demands. Knowledge of asset management and coding for apps is a plus.

Qualifications

• Current FAA Part107 Remote Pilot Certification.
• Experience managing drone operations in complex environments.
• Experience creating schedules for complex operations and meeting deadlines.
• Strong understanding of FAA drone regulations and waiver processes.
• Knowledge of drone maintenance procedures and asset management.
• Excellent project management and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities for cross-functional coordination.
• Willingness to flex work hours to nights and weekends as needed.
• Desire for coding skills to create simple apps and perform data analysis.
• Experience in aerospace operations, particularly in test environments.

Responsibilities

• Organize and lead the execution of all New Glenn drone activities, prioritizing media events and expanding drone use for other operations.
• Act as a New Glenn drone operator.
• Develop and conduct pilot and Visual Observer training.
• Manage operator coverage and roster for 24/7 drone event support.
• Source and hire contractor operators as required.
• Maintain asset management plan and select proper drone assets per mission.
• Track preventive maintenance on drone systems.
• Coordinate with operations and media teams for mission coverage and end-point feeds.
• Code and manage nominal drone operations in Jules workorders.
• Develop flight plans to meet coverage needs.
• Organize test runs and pre-event meetings.
• Coordinate with media POCs to evolve drone capabilities.
• Manage FAA and Range coordination and regulatory compliance.
