Job summary

Peraton in Colorado Springs is seeking a Software Developer to contribute to the Space Weather Analysis Forecasting Service (SWAFS) GovCloud solution. You will work within an Agile team, translate requirements into architectural designs, and drive the implementation from code to deployment.

The ideal candidate has Java experience, familiarity with Spring ecosystems, and the ability to collaborate with senior architects while upholding coding standards and DevSecOps practices.

Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelors or Masters with relevant software development experience as per listed requirements.
• At least 3 years of progressive software development experience and solid Java background.
• Experience with Spring and Spring Kafka, or comparable event-driven messaging technologies.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design and documentation of software architecture for SWAFS GovCloud solution.
• Translate requirements into architectural designs, interaction flows, and artifacts.
• Collaborate with Senior Architects, Chief Systems Engineers, and Product Owners to align designs with objectives.
• Support decomposition of architectural requirements into development stories and sprint tasks.
• Participate in all phases of the SDLC: definition, design, implementation, testing, deployment.
• Write and review Java code; guide on standards and patterns.
• Promote design guidelines and coding standards across the team.
• Evaluate frameworks, tools, and technologies to meet system needs.
• Participate in peer reviews and provide constructive feedback.
• Support REST API design and data/service integration for SaaS.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipeline design and DevSecOps practices.
• Assist in source control, build, and release management.
• Produce ADRs and technical specifications for architecture.
• Support customer-facing architecture demonstrations.
