Job summary

BlackVe, Inc. seeks a Software Engineering Manager in Albuquerque to lead a mixed team of embedded flight software and ground systems engineers. You will own the software development lifecycle, drive sprint-based delivery, and articulate risks to program leadership.

You must have 7+ years in embedded or ground software, strong leadership in Agile, and the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on software development in embedded systems or ground software.
• Demonstrated experience managing or leading a software team through iterative/agile development.
• Strong understanding of configuration management, CI/CD, build systems, and deployment processes.
• Ability to communicate technical progress, risk, and trade-offs to non-software stakeholders.
• Experience working on interdisciplinary engineering teams (hardware, systems, software).
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Leading a team of software developers across embedded flight software and ground system domains.
• Running agile sprint cycles — planning, execution, retrospectives — and keeping the team moving.
• Representing software engineering on cross-functional program teams alongside systems, hardware, and assembly, integration, and test (AI&T) engineering.
• Communicating schedule, progress, and technical status to program and company leadership.
• Creating and assembling content for design reviews and documentation.
• Identifying, tracking, and mitigating software risks before they become program risks.
• Overseeing deployment workflows, build infrastructure, configuration management, and version control practices.
• Contributing technically — reviewing code, making architectural decisions, and writing software when the team needs it.
