Job summary

Lodestar Space seeks a hands-on technical proposal writer to translate complex defense concepts into compliant, evaluator-ready narratives for DoD, DoW, NASA and IC opportunities.

You will own bid content from RFIs to final submission, working with engineering, BD, legal, and mission operations to ensure cohesive, compliant proposals on tight timelines.

This role rewards independence, clear communication, and the ability to transform technical detail into persuasive capability descriptions.

Qualifications

• 3 to 6 years of hands-on technical proposal writing experience for DoD, DoW, NASA, or IC customers, able to work independently.
• Experience writing for space systems and defense domains; engineers must trust your drafts.
• Ability to decompose complex solicitations (Section L/M) and create compliance artifacts.
• Working knowledge of FAR/DFARS; not a contracting officer but able to catch issues.
• Experience across RFPs, OTAs, CSOs, BAAs, SBIRs.
• Exceptional written communication; write like someone who understands the mission.
• Comfort with ambiguity and self-reliance; end-to-end ownership.

Responsibilities

• Write technical, management, and past performance volumes for DoD/DoW/NASA/IC solicitations.
• Translate complex engineering concepts into compliant, evaluator-ready narrative.
• Write executive summaries, capability descriptions, technical approaches, staffing narratives, and past performance write-ups.
• Build and maintain a reusable proposal content library to reduce per-submission workload.
• Perform thorough solicitation analysis and develop compliance matrices and annotated outlines.
• Track and enforce compliance across all volumes and requirements.
• Coordinate inputs from technical, BD, Legal, and Mission Operations to assemble submissions.
• Own proposal schedules, draft cycles, and submission logistics across opportunities.
