Job summary

Varda Space Industries, Inc. in El Segundo, CA, is seeking a summer cybersecurity intern to join our information security team.

You will review alerts, document actions, and help prepare for a certification audit while learning from a Cybersecurity Analyst and an InfoSec Engineer. This internship is full-time and on-site from May to June, open to undergraduates in cybersecurity or related fields with US work authorization for the full duration.

Qualifications

• Current undergrad in cybersecurity, computer science, information technology, information systems, or a similar major.
• Has taken classes or taught yourself at least two of: networking, OS fundamentals, user accounts and passwords, incident response, or security monitoring.
• Comfort reading logs and working with data in spreadsheets; basic scripting knowledge.
• Clear writing; you will write notes and reports others rely on.
• Organized with attention to detail and proactive question-asking.
• Authorized to work in the United States for the full duration of the internship.

Responsibilities

• Review security alerts daily, identify what they are, and document actions taken.
• Configure and fine-tune security tools (Zscaler, CrowdStrike, ThreatLocker, Darktrace, AlienVault).
• Maintain security event logs with a clear audit trail.
• Pull sample logs and organize them to demonstrate monitoring to an auditor.
• Track reports from external security partners and file them correctly.
• Upload reports and updates into the compliance-tracking system.
• Own a summer project from start to finish (e.g., logging gaps, incident-response guide, or simple dashboard).
