Job summary

General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) seeks a Component Engineer in Rancho Bernardo, CA, reporting to the Component Engineering Manager. Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's in engineering with 2+ years of engineering experience.
• Experience sourcing electrical, electronic and electromechanical components.
• Experience with BOM obsolescence analysis tools.
• Solid understanding of engineering concepts and broad application of those concepts.
• Strong communication, documentation and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in a hardware manufacturing environment and sustaining manufacturing engineering.
• Ability to obtain/maintain DoD clearance at or above Secret level.

Responsibilities

• Perform part screening and evaluate materials for reliability and cost efficiency.
• Source electrical, electronic and electromechanical components for products and subassemblies.
• Find replacements for obsolete components and update designs as needed.
• Use BOM obsolescence analysis tools to manage lifecycle.
• Research, develop and select components for product improvements.
• Provide electrical and mechanical engineering support and interpret engineering docs.
• Collaborate with vendors and manufacturing to enable manufacturing-friendly designs.
• Understand/comply with DoD program requirements and security clearances.
