Job summary

Northwood, a modern space infrastructure company, seeks a Network Software Engineer to develop software that ingests, processes, and routes mission data across our satellite ground network.

You will implement CCSDS protocols, build high‑performance data pipelines, and collaborate with DSP/FPGA teams to turn customer requirements into reliable, production‑grade software. This on‑site role in Torrance, CA drives mission‑critical communications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, telecommunications, or a related field.
• Strong programming skills in systems-oriented languages (Rust, C++, Go).
• Experience developing software for networking, real-time data processing, or distributed systems.
• Solid understanding of network protocols, binary data formats, serialization, buffering, and asynchronous processing.
• Ownership of a production software system from design through deployment and operation.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain software for ingesting, processing, and routing telemetry, tracking, and command data.
• Implement and validate CCSDS protocols, including space packets and transfer frames.
• Develop high-performance data pipelines connecting radios, ground infrastructure, and customer endpoints.
• Build tooling for parsing, framing, buffering, recording, replay, monitoring, and debugging.
• Translate customer mission requirements into configurable data-handling workflows and interfaces.
• Collaborate with DSP/FPGA engineers to define interfaces between hardware processing and software.
