Job summary

Rocket Lab in Long Beach, CA seeks an RF Engineer II to support the development of radar and RF systems for space-based missions, including SAR. You will work with a team of engineers to design, analyze, simulate, and test radar payloads and subsystems in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires foundational radar knowledge, 2+ years of experience, and the ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance. You’ll engage in missions from system-level analysis to hands-on testing and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (electrical/aerospace/physics)
• 2+ years of experience in a relevant field
• Foundational knowledge of radar systems and RF engineering
• Exposure to SAR or space-based radar
• Basic orbital mechanics knowledge and spacecraft systems awareness
• Proficiency with MATLAB, Python for analysis
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance

Responsibilities

• Develop radar and RF systems for space-based radar applications
• Perform radar link budget analysis and performance modeling
• Run simulations in MATLAB/Python and other radar tools
• Support waveform design, timing, and RF component selection for space missions
• Conduct orbital analysis, ground track visualization, and revisit analysis
• Assist in test plans and procedures for radar payload testing
• Collaborate with RF, digital, systems, and spacecraft engineers
• Prepare technical documentation and ICDs
