Job summary

Varda Space Industries is seeking a Space Avionics Test Engineer II to design, build, and operate test systems for spacecraft avionics and to develop Python-based test procedures. The role emphasizes validating flight hardware under extreme conditions and collaborating with REs and manufacturing engineers to ensure mission readiness.

Responsibilities include creating comprehensive test plans, standardizing software behavior, and driving test automation.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in system validation, component testing, or test software development.
• Proficiency in Python programming and debugging.
• Experience with electronics test equipment (DAQs, scopes, loads, meters).
• Familiarity with sensor types (thermocouples, RTDs, 4-20mA).
• Proficiency with Git source control.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate test systems for avionics components.
• Develop Python tests to run, analyze, and report results.
• Collaborate with REs to define test cases for performance under extreme conditions.
• Craft test plans for flight hardware and manage qualification tests.
• Standardize test software behavior and data reporting with engineers.
• Advance test automation and efficiency practices.
• Work with HITL testbeds to simulate spacecraft on the ground.
