Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Supplier Development Engineer to build and execute technical programs that transform the supplier base from reactive to ready. You will lead qualification activities across a four-gate pathway, including capability surveys and first article inspections, while working directly with suppliers on-site.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Engineering or a related field.
• 2+ years of supplier development or manufacturing engineering experience with supplier-facing accountability.
• Experience planning and executing supplier audits or readiness assessments.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and how maturity affects quality, delivery, and cost.
• Experience collaborating with Engineering, Procurement, Supplier Quality, and Programs.
• Willingness to travel regularly to supplier facilities.
• Excellent communication skills to set expectations and translate requirements.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible for U.S. work authorization.

Responsibilities

• Lead supplier qualification activities through four-gate pathway: survey, on-site audit, first article inspection, rate readiness.
• Conduct on-site supplier audits to evaluate process maturity, quality systems, capacity, and readiness.
• Own and maintain qualification files from assessment to production.
• Drive development programs with strategic and preferred suppliers, including workshops and capacity planning.
• Collaborate with Supplier Quality to establish a quality baseline before entry into approved base.
• Maintain qualification library and enable cross-program reuse of data.
• Support international supplier development with consistent standards.
• Contribute to supplier conferences to align on performance and partnerships.
• Maintain qualification and capability data in systems of record.
