Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) invites motivated STEM students to join our Space Algorithms and Technologies team as interns. You will help design, develop, and assess space technologies and algorithms, while participating in both independent and collaborative projects across photonics and sensor hardware for spacecraft payloads.

You will gain hands-on experience with C/C++, MATLAB, and Python, applying modeling and simulation techniques to current and future space

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computational Sciences or a related technical field.
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • Have development experience with C/C++, Matlab, Python or equivalent programming languages.
  • Ability to complete tasking requirements without direct oversight.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and testing space components for internal research and development efforts.
  • Working with models and simulations of current, proposed and future space systems, sensors and constellations.
  • Exploring algorithms to improve and assess performance of space systems.
