Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation in Arlington, VA is seeking a Data and AI Capabilities Advisor to provide objective guidance on AI and data-driven solutions for space systems and defense programs.

You will lead high-impact studies, develop technical roadmaps, and coordinate with SSC, AFRL, USSF, and other partners to inform acquisition strategies. A DoD clearance and US citizenship are required.

Qualifications

  • Senior Project Engineer – Artificial Intelligence and Data Science/Big Data Mining: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical field.
  • 12+ years of demonstrated technical depth in AI, space systems engineering and architectures, digital engineering and MBSE.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with high-functioning teams including government, civilians, military personnel, co-located FFRDC, and SETA contractors.
  • Understanding of space acquisition, integration, and lifecycle processes within the DoD or U.S. Space Force.
  • Strong technical writing and executive briefing abilities.
  • DoD security clearance eligibility; US citizenship required.
  • Familiarity with Aerospace engineering practices and risk assessment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide objective, non-advocacy technical advice to the DAF on AI applications across space systems and acquisition portfolios.
  • Assess readiness, risk, and integration challenges for AI, ML, autonomy, and cyber technologies in space programs.
  • Support enterprise capability development and cross-program integration studies and activities.
  • Advise on acquisition and integration strategies.
  • Develop technical roadmaps, trade studies, and decision-quality products for SAF/SQ, Space Force, and OSW stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with SSC, AFRL, USSF, and other partners to ensure coherent technical insight.
  • Prepare and deliver clear briefings and written assessments for senior leaders and policymakers.
  • Deliver timely responses to staff inquiries and support position papers for Congress and DoD bodies.
