SUMMARY

Performs professional massage therapy and body treatments for guests and members per Rancho Valencia protocol. The Massage Therapist must have a thorough knowledge of numerous massage modalities, possess a general understanding of body treatments and be willing to train in Rancho Valencia’s specific menu of spa treatments. Must possess excellent communication skills and be able to learn the product and service knowledge necessary to effectively provide wellness programs personalized to each of our guests. Must possess and keep current certification from the California Massage Therapy Council (CAMTC).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Provide consistent professional massage and body treatments in accordance with Rancho Valencia protocols, CAMTC requirements and Forbes 5-star standards.
2. Arrive on time for scheduled shifts, greet guests promptly for their service, and perform the treatment within the appropriate time allotted for the service.
3. Perform all massages and body treatments for guests using safe and professional techniques, ensuring clients' comfort and discreet draping at all times. Uphold all standards of sanitation and sterilization as directed by California law.
4. Offer flexibility with the schedule of availability to meet the variable demand for massage services.
5. Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor. Comply with Rancho Valencia grooming standards at all times.
6. Prepare treatment rooms to protocol. Perform prep work, properly clean and restock treatment rooms, and complete side work duties as assigned.
7. Maintain a thorough knowledge of all treatments on the spa menu including indications, contraindications, and protocols. Possess a thorough knowledge of all professional products used including ingredients and contraindications. Actively promote spa and fitness offerings and retail products for homecare to guests.
8. Properly care for equipment and report any maintenance concerns. Use the proper amount of product per the treatment protocol to assist with cost controls.
9. Attend mandatory team meetings and trainings, attend all Forbes trainings.
10. Actively participate in safety programs and abide by all injury reporting and safety behavior requirements.
11. Participate in and support Rancho Valencia’s efforts towards community service, sustainability, and environmental initiatives.
12. Communicate with management any and all occurrences involving staff or guests that require attention. Handle concerns professionally and courteously.
13. Maintain a positive attitude and contribute toward a quality work environment.
14. Assist in all areas of the spa operation as requested by management.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

1. Current California Massage Therapy Council certification.
2. Ability to communicate in English with vendors, guests, and staff to their understanding.
3. Excellent eye for detail, ability to multi-task and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
4. Available to work holidays, mornings, evenings, and weekends.
5. Minimum of 5 years of experience, preferably in a 5-star or luxury environment.
6. Must be able to work PM shifts.

Desirable

1. Previous experience in a luxury, Forbes 5-star work environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

1. Frequent or occasional need to perform the following physical activities: reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting, and climbing. Have frequent need to perform standing and walking activities related to inspecting property.
2. Constant need to perform the following physical activities: grasping, turning, finger dexterity.
3. Frequently needs to stand for long periods of time.
4. Lifting/carrying up to 10 lbs. frequently and 25 lbs. occasionally.
5. Vision requirements: constant need to view small print. Frequent need to see small details and things clearly beyond arms’ reach.
6. Hearing requirements: constant need to speak on telephone and/or two-way radio, respond to general public and converse with staff. Ability to hear fire alarms and emergency equipment.
