Vaco by Highspring is seeking an experienced Financial Auditor to support an active SOX compliance initiative. The consultant will focus on SOX testing and business process controls across key financial areas, delivering thorough documentation and clear communication to stakeholders.

Ideal candidates bring hands-on SOX testing experience, familiarity with auditing software such as AuditBoard, and a proven ability to work independently in a fast-paced compliance environment.

Contract Opportunity | Immediate Need | Potential Extension

Vaco is partnering with a client to identify an experienced Financial Auditor to support an active SOX compliance initiative. This consultant will focus on SOX testing activities, with an emphasis on business process controls and sample testing across key financial areas.

This is an excellent opportunity for an auditor who can quickly contribute within a fast-paced compliance environment and immediately support ongoing testing efforts.

Interim Financial Auditor - SOX Testing Consultant

• Execute SOX testing procedures and sample testing for key business process controls.
• Evaluate control effectiveness within Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, Payroll, and other financial processes.
• Document testing results and maintain audit workpapers within the organization's SOX compliance platform.

Responsibilities

• Perform SOX testing, including sample selection, evidence review, and operating effectiveness testing.
• Execute testing of business process controls across core finance functions.
• Review supporting documentation and evaluate compliance with established control requirements.
• Prepare and maintain complete testing documentation and workpapers.
• Communicate findings, testing status, and documentation needs to project stakeholders.
• Assist with remediation follow-up and additional compliance activities as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Strong financial audit and SOX testing experience.
• Hands-on experience testing business process controls within areas such as:
  • Accounts Payable
  • Fixed Assets
  • Payroll
  • Other key financial reporting processes
• Experience documenting testing within a SOX compliance management tool.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal oversight.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AuditBoard.
• Public accounting background (Big 4 or national firm experience preferred).
• Internal audit or SOX compliance consulting experience.
• Experience supporting publicly traded or SOX-regulated organizations.

Contract Details

• Target Start Date: Week of October 5th or October 12th
• Initial Duration: Approximately 2+ weeks
• Extension Potential: Strong possibility of extension based on business needs and ongoing SOX compliance activities
• Equipment: Company-issued laptop provided
• Work Arrangement: Contract / Interim

The ideal consultant has a strong background in SOX compliance and financial process testing and can immediately contribute by executing testing procedures, reviewing evidence, and maintaining high-quality documentation. Candidates with AuditBoard experience and a proven ability to perform business process control testing will be especially attractive.
