Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an on-call archaeologist qualified as Secretary of the Interior (SOI) to support a range of projects in southern California. You will provide cultural resources expertise for planning, engineering, and construction across renewable energy, government, military, transportation, and commercial clients.

The role requires an MA/MS in anthropology or archaeology, 2+ years of CA field experience, GIS familiarity, and strong writing/communication skills.

Qualifications

MA or MS in anthropology/archaeology required.
Minimum 2 years of professional archaeological field experience in California.
Familiarity with California state regulations for cultural resources.
Proficiency with GPS, field documentation, and MS Office.

Responsibilities

Conduct archaeological survey and exploratory subsurface testing.
Monitor archaeological work during ground-disturbing activities.
Identify, document, and recover cultural resources in the field.
Maintain detailed field notes, site forms, and monitoring logs.
Coordinate with project managers, environmental teams, and construction personnel.
Ensure compliance with NHPA, ARPA, NEPA, NAGPRA, and CEQA.
