Candidate Profile

The Southeast Zonal Lead, Cyber & Technology will be a hands‑on technical expert with a history of success within a top‑tier Commercial Insurance Carrier focused on building and managing a complex book of Cyber, Technology E&O, and Media & Entertainment business targeting Middle Market risks (revenues $100M - $2B). Candidates will have deep contacts within the retail Cyber broker channels and full life‑cycle exposure to portfolio management, including solicitation of submissions, underwriting analysis, preparation and issuance of indications/quotations/binders, and marketing. Additionally, the candidate must bring executive presence and leadership aptitude, with demonstrated success communicating, influencing, and building relationships that add value to the AXIS book of business and support longer‑term strategic initiatives. This role is expected to serve as a key Southeast market representative for AXIS Cyber, while also developing the leadership capabilities needed to support expanded Middle Market responsibilities as the business evolves. Future growth opportunities may include increased leadership responsibilities within the Middle Market organization, including the opportunity to develop into a Team Lead role supporting underwriting talent, distribution strategy, and regional business growth.

Role Factors

This role is hybrid. You need to be in our Alpharetta office 3 days per week. This role will report to the US Head of Middle Market, both initially and as the Middle Market strategy continues to evolve. The position is posted as a Southeast Zonal Lead; however, the successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate market leadership, internal influence, and the ability to mentor and support future team growth over time, positioning them for expanded leadership opportunities within the Middle Market organization.

Key Roles & Responsibilities
  • Leadership / Market Presence: Help lead AXIS Cyber’s Middle Market presence across the Southeast by developing strong relationships with key distribution partners, representing the AXIS brand in the region, and supporting strategic execution consistent with North America Middle Market objectives.
  • Strategic Distribution: Act as a primary day‑to‑day relationship point for select Southeast retail broker partners, helping coordinate AXIS Cyber’s market approach, visibility, and responsiveness across the region while continuing to manage a personal book of business.
  • Risk Assessments: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments of cyber and technology risk exposures for clients with $100M - $2B in revenues, utilizing advanced analytical tools and methodologies and making determinations of terms and conditions.
  • Market Analysis: Monitor and analyze market trends, emerging cyber threats, regulatory changes, and competitive dynamics to inform underwriting decisions and go-forward strategies.
  • Client Engagement: Collaborate with retail brokers, clients, and stakeholders to understand their needs, provide tailored cyber insurance solutions, and meet frequently with key North America strategic brokers.
  • Portfolio Management: Closely manage and monitor a personal book of business, ensuring financial targets are met and implementing strategies to optimize profitability.
  • Mentorship & Team Development: Serve as a mentor and technical resource for teammates, foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth, and demonstrate the leadership behaviors needed to support future people‑management responsibilities as business needs evolve.
  • Compliance: Ensure all underwriting activities comply with regulatory requirements and company policies, and support underwriting audits when required.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the US Head of Middle Market, Middle Market Accounts underwriting team, and global AXIS colleagues to deliver a unified approach to underwriting, go-to-market strategy, and monitoring of underlying book performance.
  • Product Innovation: In collaboration with underwriting teams and AXIS product managers, develop and refine cyber insurance policy language and endorsements through an understanding of market trends and potential ways to differentiate AXIS.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Underwriting experience in the Middle Market Accounts segment (clients with $100M - $2B revenues).
  • Existing retail broker relationships, with strong Southeast distribution relationships preferred.
  • Demonstrated executive presence and ability to represent a carrier externally with brokers, clients, and strategic partners.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational skills, as well as ability to innovate and collaborate with teammates.
  • Proven ability to understand and manage financial performance and relevant KPIs, including ability to manage a profitable book of business.
