Position Summary:

The Director, Access & Reimbursement (DAR) leads and mentors a team of Access & Reimbursement Managers (ARMs), overseeing activities related to patient access and fulfillment across nephrology healthcare provider accounts, and executing our patient access field reimbursement strategy. The role ensures healthcare providers, patients, and caregivers have the necessary information, tools, and resources to start and maintain therapy, while maintaining compliant communication across internal teams including Patient Experience, Specialty Pharmacy, Market Access, and Field Sales.

The Director will develop, mentor, and lead a skilled team knowledgeable in nephrology, healthcare markets, and access & fulfillment, focusing on the impact for patients starting or continuing therapy with Travere products.

Responsibilities

  • Hire, mentor, develop, and lead a field access & reimbursement team responsible for local access & fulfillment activities
  • Ensure providers, patients, and caregivers are equipped with the necessary information, tools, and resources to support therapy initiation and continuation
  • Use KPIs and analytics to optimize field execution
  • Develop strategic plans and manage their implementation in a dynamic environment
  • Create a regional vision, foster team culture, motivate performance, build customer relationships, and achieve team goals
  • Manage team performance, provide coaching, and address issues proactively
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and internal policies through oversight and training
  • Coach team members to expedite patient access effectively
  • Identify and address access & fulfillment obstacles, leveraging knowledge of pharmacy benefits, specialty pharmacy, and REMS
  • Develop regional business plans to enhance patient initiation and pull-through metrics
  • Become an expert in access & reimbursement, providing training and guidance to the team
  • Collaborate with sales and leadership teams to support customer needs
  • Establish communication routines between ARMs, hub services, REMS, specialty pharmacy, and payers
  • Support field activities through field visits and virtual calls to aid development, resolve issues, and coach
  • Build relationships with key accounts for smooth onboarding of FILSPARI
  • Train team on coverage strategies and payer coverage updates
  • Ensure key messages on access and fulfillment are integrated into customer engagement
  • Analyze regional performance, identify capability gaps, and coordinate organizational responses

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required; equivalent experience may be considered
  • 10+ years in pharma/biotech or related fields, with preference for specialty pharma, nephrology, or rare disease experience
  • 5+ years in specialty medicine with a focus on access & reimbursement
  • 3+ years as a field reimbursement manager
  • 3+ years leading teams with demonstrated success in coaching and development

Additional Skills/Experience:

  • Cross-functional experience in training, marketing, operations, or payer projects
  • Experience managing access complexities for new-to-market medications
  • Knowledge of specialty pharmacy products and networks

  • Deep understanding of insurance reimbursement including Medicare, VA, and private payers
  • Skills in educating on reimbursement processes such as prior authorizations and appeals
  • Proficiency with basic MS Office tools
  • Ability to resolve issues and educate virtually
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience managing performance and developing talent
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects, timelines, and budgets
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing plans and strategies
  • Field-based role requiring residence near a major airport, valid driver’s license, and reliable vehicle
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% within the region

Our compensation package includes base salary and incentives, with a target range of $181,000 - $235,000, depending on experience and location.
