Job summary

Wabash General Hospital is seeking a Southeast AHEC Regional Program Coordinator to support Illinois AHEC and Rural Health Transformation initiatives by developing healthcare workforce programs and partnerships across Southeast Illinois.

This grant-funded, full-time contracted position focuses on coordinating youth and community pathways, collecting data, and representing the organization at meetings and events, with ongoing emphasis on program compliance and outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, implement, and evaluate healthcare career pathway and workforce development programs.
• Develop and facilitate student programs, workshops, career fairs, job shadowing opportunities, and healthcare career exploration activities.
• Build partnerships with schools, colleges, healthcare providers, workforce agencies, and community organizations.
• Support AHEC and RHT grant initiatives, ensuring compliance with program objectives and reporting requirements.
• Collect, maintain, and report program and participant data.
• Develop presentations, educational materials, reports, and outreach communications.
• Represent AHEC and Wabash General Hospital at meetings, events, and community activities.
• Support organizational goals while adhering to hospital policies, confidentiality standards, and program requirements.

Job description

Reporting to the AHEC Director, the Southeast AHEC Regional Program Coordinator supports Illinois AHEC and Rural Health Transformation (RHT)initiatives by developing and coordinating healthcare workforce pipeline programs, fostering community and educational partnerships, engaging students in healthcare career exploration, and supporting grant-funded efforts to strengthen the rural healthcare workforce across Southeast Illinois.

Grant-Funded Position: This position is funded through the Illinois AHEC and Rural Health Transformation (RHT)programs and is contingent upon continued grant funding, organizational needs, and satisfactory performance. Funding is anticipated to continue for a multi-year grant period of up to five years; however, grant funding is awarded and reviewed on an annual basis and is not guaranteed from year to year. This is a full-time contracted position and is not eligible for hospital employee benefits.
