Job summary

The Salvation Army Kroc Center in South Bend, IN is hiring Lifeguards to help create a safe, welcoming aquatic experience. Starting pay is $15/hour with a $1,200 sign-on bonus.

You’ll monitor pools, perform rescues with CPR/First Aid, enforce rules, and maintain clean facilities. Certifications required include American Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid; Water Safety Instructor within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• American Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid certification required.
• Must obtain American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification within 90 days of hire.
• AED and Oxygen Administration certifications preferred.
• Must complete Safe From Harm training within 90 days of employment.
• Able to remain alert, communicate clearly, and respond in emergencies.
• Background check for candidates 18 or older.

Responsibilities

Help create a safe, welcoming, and fun aquatic experience at The Salvation Army Kroc Center. We are hiring dependable Lifeguards who care about water safety, enjoy helping others, and want to make a positive impact in the community.

Starting Pay: $15.00 per hour
Sign-On Bonus: Up to $1,200
Minimum Age: 16
Schedule: Flexible shifts may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

What You’ll Do

• Monitor assigned pool areas and respond quickly to emergencies
• Rescue swimmers and provide CPR, first aid, or rescue breathing when needed

• Spanish-speaking skills are helpful but not required
• Candidates age 18 or older must successfully complete a background check

$1,200 Sign-On Bonus

Newly hired Lifeguards may qualify for a $1,200 sign-on bonus, paid in three installments after 3, 6, and 12 months of continuous employment.

To qualify, employees must:

• Obtain Water Safety Instructor certification within 90 days
• Work an average of at least five hours per week
• Maintain satisfactory attendance and follow workplace policiesRemain actively employed and in good standing

Individuals who worked as Lifeguards at the South Bend Kroc Center within the past 12 months are not eligible for the bonus.
