Description

The Village at Summerville, a Life Plan Community, is seeking a skilled Sous Chef to assist the Executive Chef in designing and preparing meals. The Sous Chef provides culinary expertise and leadership; promotes quality food services and ensures food safety and sanitation requirements are consistently followed. The ideal candidate will be hospitality-minded and have experience as a Sous Chef in a retirement community, hotel, restaurant, or similar setting.

Responsibilities Include, But Not Limited To:

  1. Ensure items are produced and dated according to specifications, and labeling system is adhered to correctly.
  2. Adhere to and help implement safety and sanitation regulations; maintain cleanliness throughout the shift to ensure quality products.
  3. Assist in training and monitoring employees on proper work procedures to ensure maximum productivity with minimum labor and food expenses.
  4. Inspect all preparation and cooking equipment regularly to ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and proper operation.
  5. Ensure food products, presentation, temperature, and plating are of the highest quality and are prepared in a timely manner.
  6. Serve as a backup for the Executive Chef in their absence.
  7. Monitor holding and storage operations, stock, and food rotation.

Requirements

Minimum Education, Experience, And Skills:

  • Two years of cooking experience in a fine dining/hotel environment.
  • Experience in a culinary leadership role.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • ServSafe Certification.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Valid SC Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three years of cooking experience in CCRC, Assisted Living, and/or Long Term Care industry.
  • Knowledge of SC DHEC regulations.
  • Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts.
