Job Description
  • Prepares and cooks meals for residents under the direction of the Food Service Director. Responsible for providing high-quality dining service that considers resident preferences and dietary requirements, in compliance with food and sanitation regulations. Assists in all phases of kitchen management.
  • Maintains a professional appearance, manner, and approach while on duty.
  • Promotes a safe and sanitary environment for staff, residents, and visitors; actively reduces safety hazards, accidents, and injuries.
  • Contributes to improving community relations and increasing public awareness of the community.
  • Maintains confidentiality at all times.
  • Ensures high-quality service delivery to residents.
  • Reports incidents involving residents or employees to the Food Service Director, identifies safety hazards, and assists in corrective actions.
  • Supports a safe environment that promotes the physical and emotional well-being of residents, prospects, and staff.
  • Participates in departmental and community meetings and projects as directed.
  • Supports resident-centered activities as directed.
  • Supervises and assists staff in preparing menu items, using recipes, high-quality ingredients, and proper kitchen equipment.
  • Conducts quality assurance tests on menu items as directed.
  • Supervises safe food handling procedures, emphasizing critical control points.
  • Ensures proper labeling and storage of all foods.
  • Cooks foods according to menu and serving needs.
  • Assists in menu planning, review, and revision; develops recipes that adhere to food cost and quality standards.
  • Helps meet staffing goals.
  • Orders supplies and maintains records as directed.
  • Maintains preventative maintenance for kitchen equipment and reports malfunctions.
  • Assists in controlling food, labor, and supply costs; minimizes waste and theft.
  • Maintains accurate daily production records.
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in food service within hospitality, country clubs, or senior living preferred.
