Job summary

Umami Riot Experience is seeking a Sous Chef who leads from the line, sharpens the team, and keeps the kitchen firing on all cylinders. You’ll be the right hand to the Chef de Cuisine with real authority over execution, culture, and consistency.

The role covers daily culinary operations, including hiring, training, scheduling, systems, and service execution, with a focus on plating, inventory, and minimizing waste.

Qualifications

• Hands-on kitchen role in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Commitment to sanitation, safety and cleanliness.
• Experience in high-volume kitchens is valued.

Responsibilities

• Right hand to the Chef de Cuisine, trusted with authority over execution, culture and consistency.
• Leading from the line — balancing craft and command under pressure.
• Full control of daily culinary operations, including hiring, training, scheduling and service execution.
• Enforce recipes, knife skills, prep standards, and plating with discipline to drive consistency.
• Partner with the Executive Chef on ordering, inventory, labor, and P&L awareness to minimize waste.
