Job summary

North Italia in Walnut Creek is hiring a Sous Chef to lead a high-volume kitchen that crafts from-scratch Italian dishes with a commitment to quality, flavor, and hospitality.

You will report to the Executive Chef, manage shifts, oversee cost of goods, and mentor a culinary team to deliver Great Hospitality, Every Time in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of high-volume culinary management experience.
• Demonstrated working understanding of business operations and financials.
• Experience with POS systems and inventory control systems; prior POSitouch and Crunchtime experience is a plus.
• Able to work ten-hour plus shifts, plus ability to stand, sit, squat, or walk for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to work closing shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Dexterity to operate kitchen machinery, knives, etc.
• Ability to withstand changes in temperature, smoke, steam and heat, in a confined space.
• Hearing, visual, and sensory abilities to observe and detect emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Manage shifts including scheduling and planning.
• Demonstrate ingredient knowledge and culinary trends.
• Help the restaurant reach financial goals by controlling costs and seeking solutions when targets are not met.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness, organization, and equipment upkeep.
