Job Title: SOUS CHEF I - UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH FLORIDA (ARGOS)

Join us at Chartwells Higher Education Dining Services as a SOUS CHEF I at the University of South Florida.

Job Summary:

The Sous Chef I at USF is responsible for supporting the food program's success and overseeing culinary operations. This includes planning, ordering, inventory, food prep, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. You will also motivate and train back-of-house staff to meet quality and presentation standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Assist in food preparation and cooking.
  2. Help plan and create menus.
  3. Implement new culinary programs with marketing and culinary teams.
  4. Manage cost controls and expenditures.
  5. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years culinary experience, including 1 year in a management role.
  • Experience in various food service environments such as restaurants, hotels, or educational institutions.
  • Knowledge of food industry trends, sanitation, safety, and food cost controls.
  • Ability to create and manage production sheets.
  • Leadership, supervisory, and coaching skills.
  • ServSafe or Department of Health Certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
  • Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts preferred.
