Job description

HC-Resource is looking for an experienced and dedicated Sous Chef for an upscale, high-volume restaurant location in Washington, DC. Our client is nationally recognized for exceptional Southern hospitality, scratch-made comfort food, and an innovative culinary approach. Responsibilities:

  • Oversee culinary operations ensuring execution of all dishes meets high standards in taste, appearance, and timing.

  • Recruit, select, and develop a highly competent culinary team.

  • Provide hands-on leadership, training, and development to maintain accountability and high performance.

  • Manage inventory, ordering, and portion control to consistently achieve financial targets.

  • Maintain strict compliance with food safety standards, ServSafe guidelines, and local DC Department of Health regulations.

  • Foster a positive, collaborative kitchen culture focused on excellence, respect, and growth.

  • Support cross-training initiatives and career growth for culinary staff.

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven leadership experience in high-volume, upscale casual dining environments.

  • Experience working in scratch kitchens, with Southern or comfort food expertise highly preferred.

  • Strong ability to remain calm, organized, and efficient under pressure.

  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to inspire and lead by example.

  • A positive attitude, committed to creating a supportive and engaging work environment.

  • ServSafe certified or willingness to obtain certification promptly.
