Job description

Sous Chef Job Summary:
The Galaxy Restaurant is seeking an experienced and creative Sous Chef to join their team in Wadsworth, Ohio. The Sous Chef will be responsible for all aspects of preparing meals and assisting with menu planning at the restaurant. We are looking for the perfect Sous Chef to be second in charge and help our Executive Chef grow our restaurant and create a great work environment for everyone.

Compensation & Benefits:
Competitive salary ($50,000/year DOE), 5 day work week, plus a great benefit package: 401k, health insurance, 2 weeks vacation after 1 year, 6 personal days, new bonus plan, plus a great work environment.


Responsibilities of the Sous Chef:

  • Assist the Executive Chef in menu planning, staff scheduling, and creating shopping lists
  • Prepare high-quality food items for all meals and buffet-style dinners
  • Handle the daily food operations and manage inventory and supplies
  • Ensure the food prepared meets health and safety regulations
  • Monitor and control usage of kitchen equipment and tools
  • Follow team recipes and adjust as necessary for seasonal variations
  • Manage kitchen staff, delegate tasks, and ensure adherence with safety regulations

Sous Chef Requirements:

  • 2+ years of management/chef experience
  • Proficient in ordering, inventory, scheduling, menu development
  • Available to work opening, mid, or closing shifts on a 5 day work week
  • The ability to teach, coach and motivate a staff of 25
  • Must have superior organization and time management skills
  • Have the ability to stay calm under pressure
  • Be proactive and not reactive to everyday situation
